NARRATIVE: Deputies and Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office arrested four suspects for burglary following an extensive manhunt in the area of John Paul Jones Road and Country Lane in Florence County yesterday.  At approximately 1:44 PM on July 31, 2014, deputies received a report of a break-in in progress at 3512 John Paul Jones Road in Florence County.  Witnesses reported seeing the suspects fleeing the scene in a grey in color Jeep Cherokee which ran into a ditch in front of the residence.  Following the vehicle crash the suspects fled

on foot into wooded areas nearby.   FCSO deployed K-9 Tracking Teams in search of the suspects and SLED provided its helicopter to assist in the search. One suspect was apprehended at approximately 2:15 PM and the search continued for the remaining suspects.  Late afternoon rain showers resulted in the search being temporarily suspended, but specific information provided by residents in the area of sightings of the suspects led deputies to a heavily wooded area near the intersection of John Paul Jones Road and Langston Road.  The remaining three suspects were apprehended in that area at approximately 6:08 PM.

All four suspects have been charged with Burglary, Second Degree and will likely appear before a Florence County Magistrate tomorrow for a bond hearing.  The investigation into this incident remains under investigation and additional charges are possible.

Under South Carolina law, Burglary, Second Degree is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

In addition to assistance from SLED’s Air Support Unit, FCSO’s K-9 Tracking Teams, Investigative Division, PACE and Criminal Enforcement Units were involved in apprehending the suspects.
