12th Circuit LEN Conducts Traffic Safety Checkpoints

 The 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network conducted a traffic safety checkpoint on Friday, July 11, 2014 on the Old Marion Highway between Jamestown Road and Deepwoods Road beginning at approximately 8:30 PM and concluding at approximately 12:30 AM.  During the Operation, 909 vehicles were encountered.  The results of the checkpoint are as follows:

Driving Under the Influence 1
Open Container Violation 3
Possession of Alcohol by Minor 1
Vehicle License Violation 3
Driving Under Suspension 6
Driver’s License Violation 8
Child Restraint Violation 3
Operating Uninsured Vehicle 1
Possession of Marijuana 3
Possession of Controlled Substances 2
Other Criminal Violations 1

The 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network consists of all law enforcement agencies in Florence and Marion Counties, including state agencies, the 12th Circuit Solicitor’s Office and State Constables.  The focus of the traffic safety checkpoints is the prevention of motor vehicle accidents and the detection and enforcement of motor vehicle violations, including driving under the influence.  For the fourth year in a row, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office is the host agency for LEN operations, which is sponsored through the South Carolina Department of Public Safety.  Additional operations during the month of July are possible.
