Demarcus Lee Bluett has been charged with the May 1, 2021 murder of Mary Brown. Brown's body was found by FCSO Deputies off of East Old Marion Highway near Florence, SC later that day. According to Investigators, in the early morning hours of May 1, 2021 at an area convenience store located on T.V. Road near Florence, Bluett is alleged to have approached Brown, robbed her at gunpoint and shot her before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.
Earlier that day, Bluett is alleged by Investigators to have committed the offense of Malicious Injury to Personal Property by shooting into a coin operated washing machine coin compartment to gain access to the coins. This incident occurred at a motel located on T.V. Road near Florence.
Bluett was recently taken into custody in Guilford County North Carolina and waived extradition to Florence County. Bluett will be held at the Florence County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing before a Circuit Court judge.
