FCSO MAKES ARREST IN DOLLAR GENERAL ARMED ROBBERY


SUBJECT: Kenrick Tafari Edwards, age 22, of 1816 East McIver Road, Florence, SC 29501 was arrested on May 15, 2020 by Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and was charged with one count of Armed Robbery (While Armed With a Deadly Weapon)(S.C. Code Ann. 16-11-330(A)). See FCSO Booking Website for additional information.

NARRATIVE: Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kenrick Tafari Edwards earlier today. Edwards is charged with the May 7, 2020 armed robbery of the Dollar General store located on South Irby Street near Effingham, SC. According to Investigators, on or about May 7, 2020 Edwards is alleged to have entered the store while wearing a mask and demanding money from the store clerk at gunpoint. Edwards is further alleged to have fled the store with an undetermined amount of cash.

On May 11, 2020, Investigators arrested Gafaskia Shonique Richardson in connection with the robbery, charging her with Accessory Before and After the Fact of a Felony. Investigators allege that Richardson drove Edwards to the location of the robbery with knowledge of Edwards’ intentions and picked him up afterwards to flee the area. Security cameras captured images of Richardson and the vehicle she was operating before and after the incident. Richardson was released from the Florence County Detention Center on May 12, 2020 on a $15,000.00 surety bond. Edwards is being held at the Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.
