PRESS RELEASE January 10, 2020 FLORENCE MAN MAKES THREATS TO LAW ENFORCEMENT FOLLOWING KILLING OF POLICE OFFICER


SUBJECT: Karl Pace Mayo, III, age 36, of 322 Garrett Circle, Florence, SC 29505 was arrested by Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office on January 8, 2020 and charged with one count of Breach of Peace (S.C. Code Ann. 22-05-150) and one count of a violation of the Computer Crime Act (S.C. Code Ann. 16-16-020(4)). See FCSO Booking Website for additional information.

NARRATIVE: Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Karl Pace Mayo, III on January 8, 2020 and charged him with Breach of Peace and violation of the S.C. Computer Crime Act. According to Investigators, on or about January 5, 2020 following the murder of Florence Regional Airport Police Officer Jackson Ryan Winkeler, Mayo is alleged to have posted a threat to law enforcement officers on social media by offering to purchase ammunition for anyone who wanted to kill law enforcement.

Mayo was released from the Florence County Detention Center on January 9, 2020 on a $1558.50 surety bond.
