FCSO ARRESTS SUSPECT FOR ARSON AND ATTEMPTED MURDER


SUSPECT: Allen Oliver Bryant, III, age 45, of 2845 Sammy’s Lane, 29501was arrested by FCSO Investigators on October 3, 2019 and charged with one count of Attempted Murder (S.C. Code Ann. 16-3-029) and one count of Arson, First Degree (S.C. Code Ann. 16-11-110(A)). See FCSO Booking Website for additional details.

NARRATIVE: On October 1, 2019, at approximately 10:13 PM, Deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office along with Wendy Hill Fire Department and EMS responded to East Sammy’s Lane regarding a house fire. When deputies arrived an occupant of the residence was being transported to an area hospital for treatment of significant thermal burns. FCSO Arson Investigators arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation. According to Investigators, the fire appeared to have been intentionally set.

Investigators have arrested Allen Oliver Bryant, III and charged him with Attempted Murder and Arson, First Degree. Investigators allege that the victim and Bryant had earlier been involved in a verbal altercation, after which Bryant intentionally set fire to the house knowing that the victim was inside. According to Investigators, at one point after the fire started the victim had escaped, and Bryant allegedly threw the victim back inside before fleeing the scene.

Bryant is being held at the Florence County Detention Center without bond.
