NARRATIVE: Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of a California woman in Florence, SC. According to Investigators, what began as a missing persons incident later led to murder charges being filed against a Florence woman. Investigators allege that on or about April 21, 2019 Cecelia Elaine Knox killed Tara Echivera who was staying at the residence of Cecelia Knox and Jana Knox on McKeithan Road. Subsequent to the murder of Echivera, Investigators allege that Jana Lynn Knox was an accessory after the fact of murder and Obstruction of Justice in that she had knowledge of the murder having been committed and assisted Cecelia Knox in disposing of the victim’s body and vehicle.

Investigators have also arrested Jimmy Lee Knox and charged him with Accessory After the Fact of Murder. Jimmy Lee Knox, the brother of Cecelia Knox is alleged by Investigators to have assisted Cecelia Knox and Jana Knox in the disposal of the body of the victim. He was taken into custody on May 5, 2019 outside of Atlanta, Georgia by deputies with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, Florence Division, Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Florence County Sheriff’s Office. Jimmy Lee Knox was transported to the Florence County Detention Center where a Florence County Magistrate set a $250,000.00 surety bond. Bond has been denied for Cecelia Knox and Jana Knox.
