NARRATIVE: Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office have arrested two suspects in connection with the Sunday, January 13, 2019 shooting at the McDonalds on U.S. Highway 52 (West Lucas Street) in Florence, SC. Kelton Lane Driggers has been charged with Attempted Murder and Discharging a Firearm into a Vehicle. According to Investigators, at approximately 8:30 PM on the evening of the incident FCSO deputies responded to an area hospital where a gunshot victim had been brought by private vehicle. From there it was determined that the location of the shooting was the fast food restaurant parking lot on West Lucas Street. Investigators allege that Driggers approached the vehicle in which the victim was a passenger and after a short discussion shot the victim while the victim was sitting in the vehicle. According to witnesses, Driggers continued to shoot into the vehicle several times as it left the scene.
Luther Eric Driggers, the father of Kelton Lane Driggers has also been charged with Accessory After the Fact of a Felony. According to Investigators, the father is alleged to have been present at the time of the shooting and drove his son away from the scene without making any attempt to notify law enforcement or render aid to the victim.
Both suspects are being held at the Florence County Detention Center pending a bond hearing. The investigation into this matter is ongoing and additional charges and/or arrests are possible.
