FLORENCE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

At approximately 02:40 today an inmate at the Florence County Detention Center was discovered to be unresponsive. Detention Center employees immediately contacted EMS which transported the inmate to an area hospital where the inmate was pronounced dead. Florence County Sherrif’s Office has requested that SLED conduct an independent investigation. Please direct all further inquiries regarding this matter to SLED.
Florence Coroner Keith Von Lutcken has not released the identity of the deceased pending notification of the next of kin.
