FCSO FILES CHARGES IN WEST FLORENCE HIGH SCHOOL FIRE


Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office have filed criminal charges against a West Florence High School student for setting a fire in a restroom. According to Investigators, at approximately 10:40 yesterday (November 29, 2018) heavy smoke was noted to be coming from a downstairs restroom. After a fire alarm activated students and faculty began to evacuate the building. An FCSO School Resource Officer entered the restroom and found flames reaching near the ceiling. The SRO was then able to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher. No one was injured in the incident and classes later resumed as normal.

Following an investigation, a West Florence High School student, who is a juvenile, was charged with Malicious Injury to Property.
