12th Circuit LEN Conducts Traffic Safety Checkpoint


The 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network conducted a Traffic Safety Checkpoint on Friday, August 10, 2018 on Old Marion Highway in Florence County. During the operation, a total of 712 vehicles were encountered and the following charges were made:

Driving Under the Influence 3
Driving Under Suspension 5
ABC Violation 1
Driver’s License Violations 11
Seatbelt Violation 1
Child Restraint Violations 8
Equipment Violations 1
Possession of Marijuana 8
Turning Unlawfully 2
Other Violations 13
Stolen Vehicles 1
Fugitive Arrests 1
Other Drugs 10


Approximately 30 officers participated in the Operation. A total of 1 arrest was made and 45 traffic citations were issued.

The 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network is comprised of all of the law enforcement agencies in Florence and Marion Counties, the Twelfth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, the South Carolina Highway Patrol and State Constables.

Network operations are sponsored through the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. The focus of the traffic safety checkpoints is the detection of impaired drivers and the prevention of alcohol related motor vehicle accidents. For the 6th year in a row, Florence County Sheriff’s Office has served as the host agency for 12th Circuit LEN operations.
