FCSO NEEDS YOUR HELP IN HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
Florence County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a December 31, 2017 armed robbery and fatal shooting which occurred on Ballard Street in Florence, SC. FCSO deputies responded to the residence on South Ballard Street in reference to a shooting at approximately 6:30 PM that evening. When deputies arrived they found the victim, 87 year old Ocie Rivers who had been shot. Upon arrival Mr. Rivers was conscious and alert and able to tell Investigators that he was inside his residence when a masked subject entered and attempted to rob him. After a physical altercation with the subject, Mr. Rivers indicated that he was shot. He was subsequently transported to an area hospital where he ultimately died from a single gunshot wound.
