National Law Enforcement Week May 15, 2017

The nation will observe National Police Week beginning Monday, May 15, 2017. National Police Week was established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962 and is a collaborative effort of organizations to honor the service and sacrifice of U. S. law enforcement. It is designed to pay special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

On Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and the Florence Police Department will host a Law Enforcement Memorial Service at Savannah Grove Baptist Church at 2620 Alligator Road, Effingham, SC. During this service, officers who have given the last full measure of service in the line of duty, as well as those who have died within the last year will be recognized.

The public is invited to attend this solemn ceremony as a show of support for law enforcement.
