The 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network conducted two Traffic Safety Checkpoints on Friday, March 17, 2017; one on West Sumter Street and Ebenezer Road near Florence, SC and the other on U.S. Highway 52 near Florence-Darlington Technical College. The later checkpoint was conducted with the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office. During the operations, a total of 1050 vehicles were encountered and the following charges were made:

Driving Under the Influence 1
Driving Under Suspension 16
Open Container of Alcohol 7
Driver’s License Violations 5
Vehicle License Violations 10
Child Restraint Violations 5
Operating Uninsured Vehicle 2
Equipment Violations 1
Possession of Marijuana 3
Possession of Crack 2
Other Drug Violations 1
Weapons Violations 2
Fugitive Arrests 3
Other violations 4


45 officers participated in the Operation. A total of 13 arrests were made and 48 traffic citations were issued.

The 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network is comprised of all of the law enforcement agencies in Florence and Marion Counties, the Twelfth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, the South Carolina Highway Patrol and State Constables.

Network operations are sponsored through the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. The focus of the traffic safety checkpoints is the detection of impaired drivers and the prevention of alcohol related motor vehicle accidents.
