FCSO CAPTURES MANHUNT SUSPECTS

SUBJECT: Desmon Marquise Williams, age 19, of 821 Sutton Road, Georgetown, SC 29440 was arrested by deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office on February 16, 2017 and charged with Burglary (Third Degree) (S.C Code Ann. 16-11-313(B)). See FCSO Booking Website for additional details.

SUBJECT: Silas Benjamin Cohens, age 19, of 93 Rosasusun Drive, Georgetown,, SC was arrested by deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office on February 16, 2017 and charged with Burglary (Third Degree)(S.C. Code Ann. 16-11-313(B)). See FCSO Booking Website for additional details.

NARRATIVE: Florence County Deputies apprehended two suspects on Thursday, February 16, 2017 following a pursuit initiated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol shortly after 6:00 AM on a vehicle traveling on the Old Marion Highway near Florence, SC when the vehicle refused to stop for the Trooper’s blue light. According to deputies, the pursuit ended on S.C. Highway 51/41 near Kingsburg, S.C. just south U.S. Highway 378 when the vehicle, a conversion van left the roadway and came to rest in a field. The two occupants of the vehicle fled on foot into a wooded area nearby. Florence County Sheriff’s Office, the Johnsonville Police Department and SCHP promptly set up a perimeter of the area. FCSO Aviation Unit and K-9 Tracking Team searched the area for several hours and ultimately apprehended both suspects who were found hiding in a nearby shed.

Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office have charged Desmon Marquise Williams and Silas Benjamin Cohens, both of Georgetown, SC with Burglary. Investigators state that prior to the vehicle pursuit, Williams and Cohens are alleged to have entered a locked building on East Old Marion Highway and stolen a four wheel all-terrain vehicle (ATV). According to Investigators, the stolen ATV was recovered from the vehicle involved in the pursuit. Additional charges have been filed against the two by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

“This is yet another example of how law enforcement from various agencies in Florence County works as one unit for our citizens,” Sheriff Kenney Boone stated.

Both Williams and Cohens are being held at the Florence County Detention Center on bonds of $11,000.00 and $7,720.00 respectively.
