FCSO IDENTIFIES SUSPECT IN FRANCIS MARION ROAD SHOOTING
Florence County Sheriff’s Office Investigators need your help in locating the suspect charged with the shooting death on February 1, 2017 on Francis Marion Road in Florence, SC. Florence County Coroner Keith VonLutcken identified the victim as 55 year old Malcolm Kindred “Kenny” Kemmerlin. FCSO Investigators have obtained an arrest warrant for Michael Joe Smith, age 39, of 594 Liberty Chapel Road, Florence, SC, who is charged with Kemmerlin’s murder.
Smith is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing approximately 175 pounds, with dark hair and brown eyes (See attached photograph). Smith is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
Anyone with knowledge or information regarding the whereabouts of Smith is asked to contact FCSO Investigators at (843) 665-2121, ext. 374 or Crime Stoppers of the Pee Dee at 1-888-CRIME-SC. You do not have to reveal your identity to leave information and you may be eligible for a reward from Crime Stoppers.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing and additional information will be released when available.
