12th Circuit LEN Conducts Traffic Safety Check Points


The 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network conducted a traffic safety checkpoint on Friday, January 13, 2017 beginning at approximately 8:00 PM in Florence County.    The first checkpoint was located at the intersection of North Douglas Street and West Ashby Road and the second was at Mechanicsville Highway and Otis Way near Florence, SC.  Approximately 394 vehicles were encountered. The checkpoint resulted in the following charges:

One suspect was arrested during the operation.

The 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network consists of all law enforcement agencies in Florence and Marion Counties, including state agencies, State Constables and the 12th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.  35 law enforcement officers participated in this operation.  

The focus of the traffic safety checkpoints is the prevention of driving under the influence.  For the fifth year in a row, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office is the host agency for LEN operations, which is sponsored through the South Carolina Department of Public Safety.  Additional operations during the month of April are possible.
