FCSO CAPTURES ROBERY SUSPECT
SUBJECT: Edward Eugene Dewitt, age 47 of 1327 Kennedy Haines Road, Pamplico, SC 29583 was arrested by Florence County Deputies on December 3, 2016 and charged with Armed Robbery (S.C. Code Ann. 16-11-330(A), Failure to Stop for Blue Light (S.C. Code Ann. 56-5-750), Driving Under Suspension (S.C. Code Ann. 56-1-460) and Possession of Cocaine (S.C.Code Ann. 44-53-375). NARRATIVE: Deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Edward Eugene Dewitt on December 3, 2016 and charged him with Armed Robbery. According to Investigators, at approximately 3:24 P.M. on December 3, 2016 Dewitt is alleged to have entered a store located at 1997 North Old River Road, Pamplico, SC while armed with a knife and removed an undetermined amount of money from the cash register as the owner attempted to resist. The suspect fled the store but the owner provided a description of the suspect and his vehicle. A short time later, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle near Pamplico, SC. Dewitt refused to stop for the blue light and led deputies on a pursuit which ended near Johnsonville, SC where Dewitt was taken into custody.
Dewitt is being held at the Florence County Detention Center on a $50,000.00 surety bond.
