FCSO ARRESTS KIDNAPPING SUSPECT

SUBJECT: Shamaine Martrell Roberson, age 29 of 133 Brown Street, Lake City, SC 29560 was arrested by Florence County Deputies on December 3, 2016 and charged with Kidnapping (S.C. Code Ann. 16-3-910 ), Grand Larceny (S.C. Code Ann. 16-13-30(B)), Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon (S.C. Code Ann. 16-23-500(A)), Possession of Weapon During Commission of Violent Crime (S. NARRATIVE: Deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Shamaine Martrell Roberson on Saturday, December 3, 2016 and charged him with Kidnapping, Grand Larceny, Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime. According to Investigators, in the early morning hours of December 3, 2016, Roberson is alleged to have forced a victim against her will at gunpoint into her vehicle in the parking lot of a bar located at 104 West Kansas Drive in Florence, SC. Investigators further allege that Roberson drove the victim away from the location and threatened to kill her if she did not perform a sex act. At some point during the incident the victim escaped the vehicle on John Paul Jones Road and was later able to call 911 from a nearby residence. The victim was then transported to an area hospital for injuries sustained during her escape.

Deputies and Investigators immediately began a search for the suspect and the victim’s vehicle. FCSO Raptor One was successful in locating the stolen vehicle at 4808 Woods Bay Road, Olanta, SC. At approximately 10:45 AM the suspect was located by deputies at that location along with personal property belonging to the victim.

Roberson is being held at the Florence County Detention Center without bond while awaiting an appearance before a circuit court judge. Under South Carolina law, kidnapping is a felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison.
