FCSO Involved in Major Heroin Bust

Specially trained Narcotics Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, working in cooperation with the FBI and SLED arrested Kenneth Andrew Generette on October 4, 2016 in Loris, SC on drug trafficking charges.  Generette, previously released on bond for charges of Trafficking Heroin arising out of Florence County, was the target of an extensive multi-agency investigation into recent heroin overdoses in and around the Johnsonville, SC area.  At the time of his arrest, Generette was allegedly in possession of approximately 97 grams of heroin and approximately $2800.00 in U.S. currency.

FCSO Narcotics Investigators assigned to the FBI Violent Crime Task Force opened the investigation in response to community concerns over the recent spike in heroin overdoses.  It is estimated that over 20 heroin overdoses and 1 death are associated with heroin bearing the stamp “major league” and “poison” in the Johnsonville and Lake City area.  Interviews and other investigative tools have allegedly linked Generette to those brands.

Generette has been charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Cocaine and Crack and is the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.  He is currently being held at the Dillon County Detention Center and will be arraigned on those charges before a Federal Magistrate.
