FCSO TRACKING TEAM LOCATES MISSING CHILDREN

Deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on June 16, 2016 at approximately 11:00 PM of a missing and reportedly suicidal 17 year old off Keystone Drive near Timmonsville, SC. According to parents, the teenager had left the home earlier in the evening. FCSO Canine Tracking Team was called to the scene and a blood hound unit located the teen alive and well approximately nine minutes later. The teen was then returned to the custody of the parents. The track covered a distance of approximately 380 yards.

This was the second successful track and location of a child by the Tracking Team in less than a week. On Saturday, June 11, 2016 the Tracking Team located a missing 12 year old off Owen Swamp Road near Johnsonville, SC within 7 minutes of deployment. The track covered approximately 250 yards.

“This canine team is not just for locating criminals and fugitives, which they do very well,” Sheriff Kenney Boone stated. “But returning a missing child or wandering vulnerable adult to their loved ones is the ultimate reward for this Team.”
