FCSO TO OBSERVE NATIONAL POLICE WEEK WITH MEMORIAL SERVICE

Florence County Sheriff’s Office will host a law enforcement memorial service to honor fallen officers on May 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Florence Baptist Temple located at 2308 South Irby Street in Florence, SC. This service will recognize officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the public.

This memorial service will be held in conjunction with National Police Week, 2016. In 1962 President John F. Kennedy designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day. Each year National Police Week draws between 25, 000 to 40,000 attendees from law enforcement agencies and the public to the national memorial service in Washington, D.C to honor police officers killed in the line of duty.

“Now more than ever, it is important to remember those who have given the last ounce of devotion to the public, and to keep their memory alive,” Sheriff Kenney Boone stated. “This is one of the most moving services for us, and reminds us daily of the great sacrifice our officers and their families make when they choose to serve.”

The public is invited to attend this service.
