12th Circuit LEN Conducts Traffic Safety Check Points

The 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network conducted a traffic safety checkpoint on Friday, April 8, 2016 beginning at approximately 8:30 PM in Florence County. The checkpoint was located on Freedom Boulevard near Silverstone Drive, Florence, SC, and 261 vehicles were encountered. The checkpoint resulted in the following charges:

Child Restraint Violation 1
Open Container Violation 1
Changing Lanes Unlawfully 1
Driver’s License Violation 3
Driving Under Suspension 5
Reckless Driving 1
Failure to Stop for Blue Light 1
Possession of Marijuana 1

Two suspects were arrested during the operation.

The 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network consists of all law enforcement agencies in Florence and Marion Counties, including state agencies, State Constables and the 12th Circuit Solicitor’s Office. 51 law enforcement officers participated in this operation.

The focus of the traffic safety checkpoints is the prevention of driving under the influence. For the fourth year in a row, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office is the host agency for LEN operations, which is sponsored through the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. Additional operations during the month of April are possible.
