FCSO ARRESTS TWO AFTER VEHICLE PURSUIT

SUBJECT: Christopher Valerous Ervin, age 29, of 612 Cartersville Highway, Lamar, SC 29069-9360 was arrested by deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office on September 22, 2015 and charged with Possession With Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine (S.C. Code Section 44-53-0375 (B)(1)), and Possession of Marijuana (S.C. Code Section 44-53-370). See FCSO Booking Website for additional details.

SUBJECT: Vinson Montray Ervin, age 25, of 839 Bay Branch Road, Lamar, SC 29069-9345 was arrested by deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office on September 22, 2015 and charged with Possession With Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine (S.C. Code Section 44-53-0375 (B)(1)), Possession With Intent to Distribute Marijuana (S.C. Code Section 44-53-370 (b)(2)), Distribution of Crack Cocaine (S.C. Code Section 4-43-0375 (B)(1)) and Failure to Stop for Blue Light (S.C. Code Section 56- 5-750) and Driving Under Suspension (S.C. Code Section 56-1-460). NARRATIVE: Florence County Narcotics Investigators and members of Florence County PACE Team attempted to make a traffic stop on September 22, 2015 on Cale Yarborough Highway on a 2010 Dodge Charger driven by Vinson Montray Ervin. According to investigators, Ervin failed to stop for the blue light and led investigators on a pursuit which ended near Pinehurst Road near Timmonsville, SC. During the pursuit, deputies observed what was suspected to be narcotics being thrown from the passenger side of the vehicle. Once the vehicle came to a stop, both Vinson Montray Ervin and Christopher Valerous Ervin, a passenger, attempted to flee on foot, but were apprehended shortly thereafter. According to investigators, the suspected narcotics allegedly thrown from the vehicle were recovered. In addition, investigators allege that both suspects were found to be in possession of marijuana when apprehended.

Christopher Velerous Ervin is charged with Possession With Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine and Possession of Marijuana. Vinson Montray Ervin is charged with Failure to Stop for Blue Light, Driving Under Suspension, Possession With Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine, Possession With Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Distribution of Crack Cocaine.

Both subjects are being held at the Florence County Detention Center on surety bonds.
