Subject: Jay Cariques Thomas, age 28, of 10525 Nero Circle, Olanta, SC 29114 was arrested by Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office on August 3, 2015 and charged with one count of Attempted Murder (S.C. Code Section 16-03-029).
Narrative: Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office have arrested Jay Cariques Thomas and charged him with one count of Attempted Murder in connection with a multiple shooting which occurred in the early morning hours of August 2, 2015 at BJ’s Lounge located at 804 Brockington Street, Timmonsville, SC. According to Investigators, the suspect is alleged to have shot the victim multiple times following a verbal altercation. The victim was transported to an area hospital by private passenger vehicle where medical treatment is ongoing. No additional information on the condition of the victim is available at this time. Another victim was shot as patrons rushed away from the bar. That victim was also transported to an area hospital by private passenger vehicle where medical treatment is ongoing. No further information on the condition of the second victim is available at this time.
Thomas is being held at the Florence County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing.
