12th Circuit LEN Conducts Traffic Safety Check Points

The 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network conducted traffic safety checkpoints on Friday, July 10, 2015 beginning at approximately 8:00 PM. The first checkpoint was located at Ebenezer Road and Cherrywood Road in Florence County. The second checkpoint occurred at Third Loop Road and South Cashua Drive, Florence, SC. The checkpoints resulted in the following charges:

  • Child Restraint Violation 3
  • Driving Under the Influence 1
  • Open Container Violation 1
  • Driver’s License Violation 11
  • Driving Under Suspension 14
  • Vehicle License Violation 1
  • Possession of Marijuana 3
  • Fugitive Arrest 2
  • Reckless Driving 1
  • Failure to Stop for Blue Light 1

During the Operation, 815 vehicles were encountered. Two suspects were arrested.

The 12th Circuit Law Enforcement Network consists of all law enforcement agencies in Florence and Marion Counties, including state agencies and State Constables. 51 law enforcement officers participated in this operation.

The focus of the traffic safety checkpoints is the prevention of motor vehicle accidents and the detection and enforcement of motor vehicle violations, including driving under the influence. For the fourth year in a row, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office is the host agency for LEN operations, which is sponsored through the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. Additional operations during the month of November are possible.
