Earlier today, Florence County Sheriff’s Office received notification that a legal action had been filed against it and Lieutenant Larry Roscoe by Investigator Jody L. Lynch in the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, Florence Division. The complaint alleges in essence that Investigator Lynch was subjected to unlawful discrimination because of her sex.  This matter has been thoroughly investigated by the South Carolina Human Affairs Commission and the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission with the full and complete cooperation of the Sheriff’s Office, and no violations of the Human Affairs Law were found.

“The experts in these types of investigations concluded that we acted properly and no violations of the discrimination law occurred,” Sheriff Kenney Boone stated.  “We are reviewing the complaint and our formal response will be filed with the court.”
