|Reserve Deputy Program|
The Florence County Sheriff's Office has a very active Reserve Deputy Program that we are justly proud of. The program was created in 1992. Currently we have 15 Reserve Deputies working with the Patrol Division of teh Sheriff's Office. Since the inception of this program, officers have volunteered more than 14,000 hours of service to Florence County. These officers work parades, special events, courtroom, and regular patrol duties.
There are four additonal Reserve Deputies who work with our Emergency Services Unit (ESU) and are part of the Tactical Medic Program. Of the four, one is a board certified physiician in emergency medicine and three are paramedics. These officers respond with the ESU to incidents such as barricaded suspects, high risk search / arrest warrants and manhunts.
To become a Reserve Deputy, you must:
-Be at least 21 years of age
To maintain your status within the program, officers are required to work a minimum of 60 hours per quarter. All equipment is provided and there is no cost to join the program, or take the course.
