The PIO (Public Information Officer) is part of the Operation Support Division and is in charge of overseeing the public information services, media relations, and legal services for the Sheriff's Office. 

The PIO serves as the official spokesperson on behalf of the Sheriff and the department.  Researches, prepares, and disseminates news releases and advisories to the media concerning departmental activities.  Responds to the public and media queries for information concerning departmental activities.

This Officer reviews and releases all information requested by the public, establishes a media relations program for the release of information on cases and news releases concerning departmental activitities.  Establishes and maintains the departmental legal services, including legal updates, policy and procedure review, contract compliance, labor law compliance, magistrate court prosecutorial assistance, and coordination of tort and liability claims against the department.
