THE CARE HOUSE SERVCES INCLUDE:

MEDICAL SERVICES will be provided to collect evidence and ensure the health of the maltreated child. Information from the medical examination will be made available to the referring investigative agencies. Medical services will include acute and chronic sexual and physical abuse examinations, follow-up services and referrals. In addition, medical services will be available for after hour emergency services and for foster care removal examinations.

FORENSIC INTERVIEWING of the child will be completed at The CARE House. The interview will be conducted in a child- friendly setting for the purpose of obtaining information relating to the reported maltreatment. The interviewer will use a standardized method of information collection to prevent suggestibility and coaching of the child. The referring investigative agencies will receive the information collected from the child to provide for the child’s safety and well-being.

COURTSERVICES The staff at The CA RE House will be available for expert testimony and case consultation in civil and criminal proceedings.

COMMUNITY EDUCA lION will be available to both professionals and lay groups in the community to learn more about child abuse issues. Training to area professionals on issues regarding prevention, recognition and referrals will serve to educate all who have a role serving maltreated children. This will assist in achieving the goal to decrease the number of maltreated children in the Pee bee Region.

COUNSELING referrals will be made for the child in need of counseling. The CARE House will provide the child/family with resources available in the community to assure their emotional well-being.

MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM The CARE House staff will serve as the integral part of the multidisciplinary team. Components of the team will also include Law Enforcement, the bepartment of Social Services, Solicitor’s office, and other professionals who will provide timely, coordinated and comprehensive response to maltreated children.
