Grant funding provides local law enforcement opportunities to reduce crime and enhance public safety through a variety of activities including the procurement of equipment, technology and other material directly related to basic law enforcement functions. Such services and equipment would otherwise not be available due to budgetary constraints. There are grant funding sources available on the local, state and federal level. The FCSO is diligent in the competitive process of obtaining funds on all levels. Grants are awarded based on formulas, presentation of need match funding, population, or even funding priorities. Departmental assessments are performed to determine needs. Then alternative funding sources are sought through the grant process. There is no greater reward for research and time spent preparing the grant package than to receive notification of grant funding awarded. Fruition come when officers are distributed much needed equipment, or an announcement is made that a necessary service can be provided, or another enhancement in technology is now being made available to our law enforcement officers. Grant funding is an essential part of the operation of law enforcements centers. It is our goal to aggressively seek these golden opportunities.
