NARRATIVE:Two suspects are in custody and one other is receiving medical treatment in an area hospital following a vehicle pursuit in the early morning hours of March 6, 2014 which ended on North Dunbar Street in Florence, SC.  According to deputies, the pursuit began when the suspect vehicle with three occupants failed to stop for a deputy’s blue light on West Lucas Street.  The suspect vehicle led the deputy on a pursuit on to Clement Street, turned on to Ingram Street and then onto North Dunbar Street where the suspect vehicle lost control and came to rest in the front yard of a residence.  When the deputy got out of his vehicle, the operator of the suspect vehicle attempted to run the deputy over.  The deputy discharged his duty weapon multiple times in self-defense.

The subject vehicle was occupied by three suspects.  Terrance Cochrane was arrested at the scene and was charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine With Intent to Distribute (First Offense).  Maurice Laquan Bostick was transported from the scene to an area hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds and was later released into the custody of FCSO. Bostick is also charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine With Intent to Distribute.  A third suspect is receiving medical treatment for gunshot wounds at an area hospital and will be formally charged at a later date.  The investigation into this incident is ongoing and additional charges are possible.

At the request of the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating the officer involved shooting.  As is customary in these incidents, the deputy has been placed on administrative leave with pay until further notice.
