The Criminal Investigations Division has a mission to thouroughly investigate a wide variety of criminal cases that occur within Florence County. The division is divided into specialized, highly trained units including major crimes, sex crimes, youth crimes, burglaries, financial crimes, motor vehicle thefts, and a cold case unit. The duties of the investigators include, but are not limited to, interviewing suspects and witnesses, making arrests, collecting and evaluating evidence, and preparing criminal cases for trial.

This division is also responsible for maintaining the sex offender registry for Florence County by frequently conducting field checks of offenders to ensure their compliance with registering requirements.

Florence County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division has a history of excellence in solving crimes throughout the county.
