Normally, a "giving false information before a committee" charge is grounded in the language contained in S.C. Code of Laws Section 16-9-10, which states "it is unlawful for a person to wilfully give false, misleading, or incomplete testimony under oath in any court of record, judicial, administrative, or regulatory proceeding in this State". This law is referred to as the "perjury" statute. Thanks for visiting our site. |

I live in a area that can be good if we can get some of the drugs and speeding drunk drivers. There's a place where people go and gamble, selling tickets, and drink alcohol and when it's time for them to leave they speed off..We have over 30 kids on our street but they can't ride there bikes or roller skate without being in danger. I wish this area gets crack down on so we can allow our kids can live the life of comfort without looking out for a speed racer.
Also,in the morning my two daughters walk down to the bus stop where there is no school bus zone sign for folks to slow down.. I had to step out in front of a pick up truck in order to keep a child from getting hit.. I know calling 911 is the best thing to do. By the time an Officer shows up they are gone.. I am a man who looks out for all kids. And I search everyday for S.O.R and murders. But I need a big help in getting some of these problems solved.. |

Jane...not only will the FCSO be able to help in stopping the drug activity in your neighborhood, but we will also stop the speeding. It is the goal of the FCSO to make all neighborhoods in Florence County safe so that children can go outside and play. Thank you for taking that first step in making your community safe....calling us. |

Jane....the FCSO welcomes calls from citizens who wish to report criminal activity. Some of our biggest narcotics cases were initiated by citizens who called the FCSO after becoming tired of drug activity in their neighborhoods. I would encourage you to do the same by calling the FCSO Narcotics Division at 665-2121 ext. 330. Thanks for visiting our site and for exhibiting the kind of courage it takes to make Florence County safe for everyone. |

Zeke....the FCSO treats criminal domestic violence (CDV) complaints very seriously, and works aggressively to arrest and prosecute offenders. To that end, the FCSO has two full-time CDV investigators, who along with our victim's advocates, tirelessly work to ensure the safety of CDV victims and to keep the offenders behind bars. The FCSO encourages anyone who feels threatened to contact our agency for the purpose of initiating a criminal complaint. Thank you for visiting our site. |

I do not understand how a man can be charged with CDV, 2nd offence, who beat his pregnant girlfriend and pleaded quilty and was only sentenced to 30 days week-end time on Friday, Saturday and Sundays from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The victim was suppose to have been notified of the court date but was not, wonder why? She was going to be there. No wonder there are so many CDV's in Florence County. By the way, the criminal thinks its funny and has threatened the victim since sentencing. The victim is treated like the criminal and the criminal is treated like the victim thanks to our Good Ole Judges. The law officer makes the arrest and the criminal is usually out within 24 hours. |

LC....Thanks for your comments regarding our site. "Worker in on loan" usually refers to an inmate who is under sentence in the S.C. Dept. of Corrections who has been re-assigned to the Florence County Detention Center to serve his sentence while working at various jobs within the FCDC. This program saves Florence County taxpayers money in that the inmates perform many jobs that help maintain the FCDC and its grounds. The FCDC only accepts inmates who have been convicted of non-violent offenses and who have maintained an excellent inmate conduct record while in the SCDC. I hope this answers your question, and thanks for visiting our site. |

While it looks like a tank, it is actually an armored personnel carrier (APC) that is used to safely transport SWAT team members to within proximity of high-risk areas. The APC was purchased for a nominal amount some years ago as military surplus. It has undergone numerous renovations to ensure maximum mission capability. Thanks for visiting our site and your question. |

It is the duty of the FCSO to respond when citizens make a request for service. While a very small number of calls turn out to be frivalous, we still encourage all citizens to call us when they feel a need for a law enforcement presence. |

The holiday season does bring an increase in crime, Leonidas. But for the last 4 years the number of armed robberies has gone down. We attribute that to our crime suppression initiative that the FCSO implements each year just before Thanksgiving to run through New Year's Day. This intiative increases the numbers of patrol officers and investigators working during peak shopping hours and at high shopping traffic locations. Hopefully, we will have as much success this year as in the past few years. Thanks for visiting our site and your question. |

citizen, normally when you see "cc" in connection with records or warrants and 3 months, it means the person wil be spending their sentence at a county correctional facility. Anyone sentenced to 90 days or less will serve that time at a county facility. Those that receive sentences of 91 days or more will be tranferred to the S.C. Dept. of Corrections. Hope this response answers your question. Thanks for visiting out site. |

A detainer charge is indicated when an individual is arrested in Florence County on charges that were initiated by a law enforcement agency outside of Florence County. For example, if I was stopped by an FCSO deputy and a records check indicated I was wanted in North Carolina for armed robbery, I would be taken into custody and processed into the Florence County Detention Center on a "detainer charge" until I was extradited back to NC on the underlying armed robbery warrant. Hopefully this has answered your question. Thanks for visiting our site and your question. |

From our criminal enforcement unit (CEU) aggressively working the interstates and making some of the largest drug seizures in the southeast U.S., to our narcotics unit engaging in drug eradication efforts throughout Florence County, our agency is committed to the war on drugs. We also have a full-time deputy assigned to the DEA task force so that our agency has access to every available drug-fighting resource. However, drug investigations can take months to progress to the point where arrests are made, which may give the impression that law enforcement is not aggressively responding to drug activity. I can assure everyone that nothing could be further from the truth in Florence County. As for the slow updates to the website, next week we will be implementing updates that will ensure the most current information is provided. Thanks for viewing our site and your comments. |

I regret that you had to suffer through the ordeal of being robbed. I also regret that no one has been arrested yet in your case. I would encourage you to follow up with the investigator assigned to your case and inquire as to any developments. Criminal investigations often take time to progress to the point where sufficient probable cause can be developed so that an arrest warrant can be obtained. I can assure you that preventing and solving violent crime (such as robbery) remain a top priority of the FCSO. Please do not hesitate to call our criminal investigation division at 665-2121 x434 for further assistance. |

Valerie.....your comments are appreciated but I must respectfully disagree with you on some points. First, the FCSO has many great youth-oriented programs (Camp Pee Dee Pride, Law Enforcement Explorers, FCSO Annual Fishing and Hunting Tournaments) that are designed to provide a positive environment for kids to prevent them from starting down the wrong path. Second, for every arrest that appears on this site, there are countless other FCSO/citizen encounters that DID NOT result in an arrest due to the deputy's sound law enforcement discretion that resulted in a person getting a verbal or a written warning. Third, the money generated by fines for criminal offenses does not go directly to the FCSO. Fine money is split between the state of SC and the county of Florence which places their portion in the general fund. If the FCSO wrote 1 million tickets next year, our annual operating budget would not be increased by a single dollar. Last, the FCSO is extremely proud of our ZERO-TOLERANCE policies regarding the sale of drugs, sex offenders and internet predators to name but a few. While I do not agree with you on some points, I respect your opinion and appreciate that you took the time to make your concerns known to us and others who view this site. |
