Brady Johnson, age 22, of 4711 Bannockburn Road, Effingham, SC has been charged by Investigators with the Florence County Sheriff's Office with voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of Matthew H. Clayton at Clayton's  home on February 19, 2010.  Clayton, a 3 year veteran of the Florence Police Department, was not on duty at the time of the incident. 

Investigators allege that Johnson unlawfully shot Clayton in his home.  According to Investigators, the firearm discharged while Johnson was pointing the firearm at Clayton, resulting in his death. 

Johnson is being held at the Florence County Detention pending a bond hearing, which is scheduled for today at 4:00 PM.
